Winter sculptures

Udmurtya has a severe climate with winter temperatures of – 30° Celsius.
With these harsh circumstances it is not easy to live. For Udmurts snow is something to both fear
and respect. Snow uncountered unprepared can mean death. By building snow sculptures Udmurts
widows their fear of snow by transforming unconsciously into fantasy.
They create Russian fairy tales – beautiful, frightening and dismal.
